CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
AUCKLAND CLUB'S CONTROL Final arrangements have been made for the New Zealand chess championship, which opens at the Auckland Chess Club's rooms at 10 a.m. on Boxing Day. It will continue for approximately 10 days. There are entrants from Auckland, Wellington, Wanganui and Christchurch, arid keenly contested games are expected. The Auckland club has full charge of the competitions, which include a major-open contest, the winner of which automatically qualifies for the following year's championship matches.' Umpires and directors of play appointed are Messrs. H. D. Addis, J. C. McCrae, and Dr. T. Gordon Short. Others who will assist at the fixture are Messrs. O. E Spencer, H. Roskilly and N. Watt.
