LAKE FISHING
IN ROTORUA AREA

According to reports from Waikaremoana,... fishing over the last fortnight, although quiet, has ; produced some good results, said the conservator of fish and game in the Rotorua district, Mr. A. Kean, yesterday. Conditions there have been affected by the boisterous weather which has been experienced-all over the Bay of Plenty district during the present month. A large bag of 60 fish was taken by Mr. R. Duban and party of four rods during the week-end'-s- sport in the lake. They were all taken on the fly. Mr. O'Hare and party of three rods took 58 on the fly during the week-end also, and Mr. J. Burke and party secured 29 on the fly and spoon. As to fishing in the Rotorua district, Mr. Kean said conditions were also quiet, due to bad weather. The best bag taken during the month was by Mr. D. McGregor and Mr. J. Caben, of Rotorua, while fishing in Lake Rotorua. Mr. W. Bell, of Edgecumbe, fly fishing in Lake Rotoiti, landed a 101b trout. Mr. P. J. Fraser, a local fisherman, secured a nine-pounder from Lake Rotoiti earlier in the month. Other catches ranged from 41b to 71b.
