General Sir Harold Alexander, Commander-in-Chief in Italy, writing to his cousin, the Rev. Robert W. W. Alexander, formerly vicar of Kawhia and now of Motere, Nelson, says: "I am enclosing my signed portrait with my best wishes. I see a lot of the New Zealand troops, as General Freyberg is a great personal friend. Of course, they are doing a magnificent job of work." . .
