First Series Of Centre Scratch Meetings

The AucKland Amateur cycling Centre held the first o£ Its series of scratch race meetings at the Papatoetoe stadium this afternoon. The Manukau Club had seven riders competing, Lynndale four, Papatoetoe six and Northern one. The Lynndale Club gained 31 points. Manukau 17 and Papatoetoe 15. On the percentage basis the result was Lynndale 7.75 points per rider, Papatoetoe 2.5 and Manukau 2.42 per rider. Highlight ol the A grade events was the final of the two laps sprint-, in which Stonex, Hill and Rattray were the finalists. With hall a lap gone Hill swooped past to take a 15 yards lead in a flash. At the bell he still held his advantage. Stonex made a determined effort to recapture the lead, dropping Rattray In the process. By sheet strength in sprinting powers Stonex caught UP to Hill as he entered the short finishing straight and won by a wheel. Stevens (Lynndale) monopolised the B grade and never appeared flurried.
