OUTRIGHT WIN TO R.V.

Kerr Completes An Excellent Double: Narrow Manukau Win: Good Knock By Sanderson

The results in all three .matches of the City and Suburban competition, the first series of which was completed at the Domain this afternoon, were all determined before the tea adjournment. Stumps were drawn in all games at 5 p.m. Exciting Finish ,

The match on the main wicket proved a most interesting and exciting affair, though it started quietly enough. Innes and Mann, the not out batsmen last week, carried the score from 44 to 66 in a workmanlike | manner. Actually the stand, which was worth 32, was the best of the innings. Bob Innes, playing his first Suburban game since returning from overseas, contributed a valuable 22, while Mann, who usually puts himself in last, stayed to add 13. After the partnership • had been broken by Farquhar, Kerr entered upon a devastating spell of bowling, claiming the next six wickets and coming out of the innings with a fine bag of seven wickets for 50. His ability to keep the ball low was particularly disconcerting to the Manukau batsmen. The ball that got Scholium never rose an inch after hitting the ground. Soon eight wickets were down for 97, and with 23 runs still required Manukau was in a precarious position. Organ and Vost,, however, both came to light with double figures, and only three runs were required when Hoskins, the last man, took his place at the wicket. These were quickly scored, and five more besides, before Kerr put an end to the innings. ' Green Lane had a little batting practice before stumps were drawn. Kerr, with 30 not out. brought his aggregate for the match to 100. He hit a six off the last ball of the game. Hoskins, who took an excellent catch off his own bowling, sent down some accurate, fast deliveries. Runaway Win

R.V. completely outclassed the Railway side this afternoon, -and by 3.45 p.m. had recorded the first outright win of the season. Apart from a sound knock by the captain, Cranfield, who carried his bat, the Railway batsmen could make no headway against the well-varied R.V.j attack. James, a fastish bowler, got the five first wickets that fell, and Wood and Kent disposed of the tailenders. , Goldsworthy and Simpson scored the necessary 22 for an outright win without being separated. R.V. then had some batting practice. Dilworth in the Runs Brixton had lost six for 39 when Crooks and Thomas went in to continue the side's first innings. Early batsmen went cheaply, but a stand by Longville and Bunting relieyed the position, Longville batting brightly to make 31. Bunting was not out for 10. The partnership carried the score from 43 to 87. After losing two wickets cheaply, Dilworth proceeded to amass the runs in smart fashion in its second turn at the crease. Sanderson, who contributed 62, gave a few chances, but, generally, batted forcefully. Gibson's 34 was also a bright knock. Dilworth declared with six wickets down for 169, its display indicating that it will be a'force to be reckoned | with in this year's competition. DILWORTH V.
