(0.C.) SYDNEY, October 19. Mr. Frank Parsons (35), a council employee, and Mr. George Macdonald, a 71-year-old pensioner, were killed at Hay when sewerage gas exploded in a 30ft street well. Mr. Parsons entered the well to examine the underground pumping machinery. He lit a candle at the bottom of the well and a violent explosion took place. Bluish flame shot 30ft into the air and large stones were hurled from the well. A stone weighing about 61b was tossed high into the air and struck 'Mr. • Macdonald, who was standing near the top of the well, on the head, crushing his skull. When the flames subsided Mr. Parsons' terribly burnt body was brought to the street level.
