AT TREHTHAM

WINS HARCOURT STAKES

Martial Note At Last

(P.A.) TRENTHAM, this day. The Wellington Racing Club's spring meeting concluded at Trentham to-day. The weather was dull and threatening, and the track was slow. One for Maggiore Maggiore, after movjng up to the leaders racing into the straight finished too well for Mvnet in the ruji home for the Rimu Hurdles. Albino was a moderate third, but Po Huka should have taken that position had he not blundered and dropped his rider at the last hurdle. The position among the leaders changed fanly rapidly, Golden Tide, Siglow, Norse and Mvnet taking turns at pacemaking. Mvnet led into the straight from Maggiore, while Albino had moved up to join Po Huka close behind them, with Siglow, which was weakening, next. Mynet was first over the last hurdle, but Maggiore wore him down to win by a length, with Albino four lentghs back and a similar margin to Siglow. Regicide broke down badly. The winner carried £823 and £1065J; Mynet £294 and £520 i, and Albino £842 and £9473.

An Overdue Win Martial Note, after holding a handy position behind the leaders to the straight in the Trial Stakes, worked clear with a furlong to run and held on to score an overdue win by two lengths and a half from Golden Souvenir, which finished last after having an interrupted run. Big Monev was a good third. Lord Roland was left True Friend and Royal Duce being in front when the field had settled down, with Martial Note, Grand Coulee and Da Vinci next, then. came Royal Victon' Big Money, Dancing Water and Go?den Souvenir.' Except that Dancing Water had joined True Friend in front there was little change to the straight, where Martial Note ran through and Royal Duce, Big Money and Grand Coulee were coming on. Martial Note always looked a Tvinner while Golden Souvenir came fust in time to beat Big Money for second. £2074 Big Money £781 10/ and £1156.

Third Win in Stakes Kindergarten recorded his third successive trfumph in the Harcourt Stakes when he outclassed the field but Glen falloch gave the crowd a thrill when, with a fast' late dab, he got to within half a length of the champion on the post Lord Chancellor was five lengths back with Rink half a lengtlr awayin fourth position. Master Baron had opened up a break of four lengths from 2ord Chancellor as they raced past the _:„„ fnrloncs • rjost, with Beau uievdi cY"ar in SSrd place, then' came Lowry lav Glenfalloch and Don Quex, with Rmk and Kindergarten at the rear Lord rVianrplloi- moved up to Master Baion Kflve furTongsto go, while GtanfUtoc h anrf Kindergarten were next with Beau Cheval Masterßaron soon dropped out, Kindergarten racing up on the outside S Lord Chancellor and Glenfalloch as they approached the straight, with R nk the only other runner within striking 'Glenfalloch £953-and £1557, Lord Chancellor £572 and £1240.
