BANTAM ROOSTER WILL ENCOURAGE YOUNG PLAYERS
Modelled on the idea of the Roope Rooster, the Bantam Rooster is likely to become as prized a trophy among young League players as the former has become with their older brothers. The Bantam Rooster will be awarded each year to the champion seven-a-side team at Carlaw Park. The Bantams have kept the interest of the crowd during the spells and between the matches throughout the season. .
Eight teams of boys under 5.7 con-
tested first'the championship of their competition and later the Bantam Rooster, which was finalised to-day. The matches are of about seven minutes' duration, with no conversion attempts, and a team is penalised one point for forcing behind its own line.
Presented to the League by Mr. C " Moore - who has been a player, referee and official, the trophy has been prepared by a taxidermist, and is mounted on a Stand holding wooden footballs on which will be inscribed the names of the winning team each year.
