MYSTERY SOLVED
EXPLOSION AT TAKAPUKA A heavy explosion heard by residents of Belmont and Takapuna on Thursday night, is believed to have been caused by the detonation of some dynamite. After a newspaper report of the explosion a man called on the Takapuna police and informed them that on Thursday night he met a soldier in the vicinity of Eversleigh Road. The soldier said that he had had some dynamite, and in order to dispose of it safely had taken it to the adjoining mudflats and detonated it with a fuse.
