CHESS INTER-CLUB MATCH
The first city inter-club match for some time was held last evening at the Auckland Chess Club when the visitors were members of the Oneh'unga and Mount Eden Clubs. There was a good attendance, the match being played at 17 boards. Auckland won 10>/ 2 — 6',b. At top board Miss A. R. Hollis (Suburbs) secured a draw against A. L. Fletcher. In her remarks the Auckland president, Mrs. T. Gordon Short, expressed the hope that other similar inter-club fKture« would be held. Due mostly to war conditions it had been difficult in past years to maintain inter-club contact.
