INTER-ISLAND
LEAGUE PROPOSAL
AUCKLAND TO BE VENUE
The possibility of a North v. South Island match being played 111 Auckland this season was discussed at a meeting of the board of control of the Auckland Rugby League last evening.
The chairman, Mr. J. W. Watson, said that the New Zealand Rugby League desired to stage the match in Auckland, provided that travel permits could be obtained. There had not been an interIsland match for five years. The reports from other parts of New Zealand were good, and it was felt that every encouragement should be given to the southern League. "Everything depends on whether travel permits can be got," added Mr. Watson. Mr. J. Clark said that they could not do anything until after next Saturday. It was possible that after next Saturday there would still be three teams leading in the club championship. Mr. W. Mincham said that every encouragement should be given to the inter-Island match. Mr. Watson said that the South Auckland League wanted a return representative match with Auckland, at Huntly, on September 16. It was decided to defer discussion on representative matches until the next meeting. Saturday Fixtures Fixtures for next Saturday are:— Marist v. Ponsonby, Carlaw Park No. 1, 1.45 p.m., Mr. J.
