READY NEXT MONDAY
WESTERN SPRINGS CAMP Notices were sent yesterday to tenants chosen by the Auckland CityCouncil housing committee, in conjunction with the State Advances Corporation, to occupy units at the council's transit camp at Western Springs. The first of the 37 tenants selected called at the Town Hall about half past ten this morning to enter into a tenancy agreement as required by the council. The units will be available for occupation next Monday.
Rents to be paid by tenants have been fixed at 17/6 a week for a onebedroom unit, 22/6 for a two-bed-room unit, and 26/3 for a threebedroom unit. Included in the rents, states the city council's notice, are electric light and a heating point. Separate ablution and laundry facilities are not available for each unit, but are provided on a communal basis in adjoining buildings. For meals the families will be required to use the communal dining hall, hot meals being provided twice a day at a charge of 3/ a day for each adult. A caretaker will be in charge of the camp and rentals will be payable in advance to him, together with meal tickets for the following week.
