STATE HOUSES
CONTRACTS STILL, BEING LET Thousands of people who are awaiting State homes will find a slight consolation in learning that contracts for' State houses are still being let in Auckland. In the last few days a number of builders'have taken out contracts to build State houses for the Housing Construction Department and contractors have never actually ceased to take out contracts at any period. The number of houses concerned is small in comparison with the huge demand and will be only a drop in the bucket as far as the majority of would-be State tenants are concerned, but it is pointed out that building is by no means at a standstill.
