KICKED HIS WIFE
YOUNG MAORI SENT TO GAOL (0.C.) WANGANUI, Tuesday. "You're a drunken blackguard and will be sentenced to one month's imprisonment," said Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., in the Wanganui Magistrate's Court in addressing a young Maori, Pera Hina, who was charged with assaulting his wife. "A prohibition order will also be issued against you." Senior-Sergeant F. Culloty said the accused was married with three young children. His wife saw him come out of an hotel and when she told him to come home the accused, who was under the influence of liquor, kicked her in the side, knocking her down. He kicked her again while she was on the ground. The woman had suffered shock and other injuries. The accused had come to Wanganui about a month ago and had done no work.
