WOMEN AS ELDERS
PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ADMISSION SUPPORTED (P.A.) DUNEDIN, this day. The Dunedin Presbytery supported by a large majority a suggestion that women be admitted as elders of the Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. J. D. Salmond stated that in the past ten years opinion in Scotland had swung round in favour and the Rev. H. J. Ryburn stated it was not a question of whether the Church could give these rights to women, but whether it could afford to withhold them.
