SERVICE TO EDUCATION
BOARD MEMBERS RETIRE
A resolution placing on record the board's appreciation of the services in the cause of education of two retiring members, Mr. G. S. B. Morrison and Mr. W. H. Fortune, was passed at a meeting of the Auckland Education Board this morning. In moving the resolution, the chairman, Mr. W. J. Campbell, said that both men had been members of the board since 1936. Mr. Morrison was also one of the board's representatives on the Board of Governors of the Whangarei High School, and Mr. Fortune held a similar position on the Board of Managers of the Seddon Memorial Technical College. He recalled that the board had already placed on record its appreciation of the services of Mr. F. A. Snell, the third retiring member of the board. Mr. Morrison and Mr. Snell were retiring for health. reasons.
In replying, Mr. Morrison agreed to continue on the Board of Governors of Whangarei High School until the end of the term next April. The new Board of Education will hold its first meeting on August 16.
