NEW BISHOP HERE
RT. REV. P. F. LYONS CHRISTCHURCH DIOCESE The Rt. Rev. Dr. P. F. Lyons newly-consecrated Catholic Bishop of Christchurcti, saw New Zealand for the first time .yesterday when he arrived at Auckland by flying boat from Australia. He was the guest last night of Bishop Liston and left this morning by plane for Christchurch, where he will be enthroned on Sunday next. Accompanying the new bishop on his arrival here were the Co-adjutor-Bishop of Dunedin, the Rt. Rev. Dr. H. J. O'Neill, who represented the New Zealand hierarchy at the consecration ceremony in Melbourne, the Rev. Father D. Lyons, Qf St. Columban's Chinese Mission staff, who is the bishop's brother, the Rev. Father J. Murphy, S.J., Rector of Newman College within the University of Melbourne, and the Rev. Father F. Moynihan, manager and editor of the Melbourne Advocate. Fathers Murphy and Moynihan will represent the diocese of Melbourne at the enthronement ceremony. On his journey south to-day Bishop Lyons was accompanied by Bishop O'Neill and Fattier Lyons. Prior to his consecration Bishop Lvons was Administrator of the Cathedral Parish in Melbourne, Chancellor of the Arch-Diocese of Melbourne and secretary to Archbishop Mannix.
