MENTAL HOSPITAL
REFORM ASSOCIATION The annual meeting of the Mental Hospital Reform Association washeld yesterday, Mr. James Armstead presiding.
The secretary, Mr. Arthur Sainsbury, referred t,o the aims of the association, and the Rev. A. S. Wilson called attention to the efforts at reform being made in Christchure'n by the Mental Welfare Society.
The following resolutions were carried:—
"That this meeting expresses its agreement with the principle of establishing popularly elected boards of control for mental hospitals in New. Zealand." "That this meeting calls upon the Government and the public hospital boards to secure as soon as possible observation wards, quite apart from mental hospital association, in the same way as obtains in Wellington and Dunedin."
