LONG-RANGE PLANNING
CITIZENS' ASSOCIATION
"Our outstanding success at the polls is a matter of congratulation to the whole organisation," said Mr. J. B. Donald, chairman of the Auckland Citizens and Ratepayers' Association. at the annual meeting of the association last night, attended by over 100 members. The association, added Mr. Donald, was not going to rest on its laurels. Now was the time to commence planning for the next campaign, to improve the pre-election campaign, and to make more efficient arrangements for polling day itself. It was the intention of the association to remain alive between elections and to stimulate interest in local body affairs.
Mr. Donald congratulated the Mayor, Mr. Allum, the city councillors and members of the other local bodies unon {heir success. He was pleased that a proportion of younger men had been elected to the various bodies. As a mark of appreciation of Mr. Donald's services to the association as chairman, an illuminated address was presented to him by the Mayor on behalf of the members. In acknowledging the gift, Mr. Donald said that he had been repaid for his efforts on behalf of the association in seeing so many men coming forward anxious to serve their country and their fellow men.
