SATURDAY'S MATCHES LEADERS TO MEET In the Rugby League senior championship the leading teams, Manukau and City, will meet in the main match next Saturday. The former is at present in front by a single point. The board of control, at a meeting Jast evening, made the following fixtures for next Saturday:— Richmond v. Ponsonby, Carlaw Park No. 1, 1.45 p.m., Mr. J. Donovan; City v. Manukau. Carlaw Park No. 1. 3.10 p.m.. Mr. J. O'Shannessey: North Shore v. Pt. Chevalier. Carlaw Park No. 2. 1.45 p.m., Mr. H. Tate; Marist v. Mt. Albert. Carlaw Park No. 2, 3.10 p.m.. Mr. S. Billman; Otahuhu v. Newton at Fowlds Park, 3.0 p.m., Mr. J. Hawkes. South Auckland Visit The South Auckland Rugby League wrote stating that the South Auckland team would visit Auckland on August 5. The only means of transport at the moment was a slow train arriving in Auckland about 2.0 p.m., but they were trying in other directions to get something better. The following transfers were approved: C. Cowley, from Mt. Albert to Richmond; L. Pinfold, Richmond to Mt. Albert. The Newton Club advised that H. Brady, who last played for Newton in 1939, had been granted a clearance to the Otahuhu senior team. Request Declined The Auckland branch of.the New Zealand Home Servicemen's Association suggested that one day's takings at the principal ground should be donated to the association's funds. It was decided to express regret that the request could not be complied with. The chairman reported the ordering off of two players, E. Donovan (City) and N. Finlayson (Manukau), in senior matches last Saturday, hai been gone into and the decision had been reserved.
