ATTEMPT ON SAFE
THIEVES IN CITY SHOP After forcing the front door of Milady's Gift Shop, 17, Victoria Street, last night or early this morning, thieves entered and exploded a charge of gelignite in a small safe in the office. The explosion jammed the locking mechanism and the safe could not be opened. The thieves had to content themselves with rifling the cash register, from which they stole about £10 in cash. They also stole a few articles from stock in the shop and departed by the front door. "On his arrival at the shop this morning the proprietor, Mr. Norman Doo, found the front door ajar. Near the safe he found a live and an exploded detonator and a small quantity of gelignite.
