UNDEFENDED CASES
SEVEN DECREES GRANTED
Seven undefended petitions for divorce were heard before Mr. Justice Callan to-day. Her husband was born in Spain, but had resided for at least 15 years to her knowledge in New Zealand, and was still resident here in the business of land agent, said Vena Hinemoa Del La Varis (Mr. Goldstine) in petitioning for divorce from Victor C. Del La Varis (Mr. Henry) on the ground of separation by mutual consent for more than three years. In reply to his Honor she said respondent was travelling when she first met him in Auckland. She was then 15 years of age. Respondent settled here, and she married him two years later.
A decree nisi was granted. Also on the ground of separation for more than three years the following decrees were granted: Williamina Frater (Mr. Mackay) v. Robert Ernest Frater; Eleanor May Plumer (Mr. Wallace) v. Arthur Frederick Plumer.
Harry Robert Wood (Mr. Sullivan), petitioning for divorce from Thelma Phyllis Wood, said he was married in 1941, and the same year he went on service overseas. On his return in March, this year, he went immediately to where his wife was staying, and at 9.30 a.m. found her in company with a man in American uniform. Subsequently he and a friend called at the house at 1 a.m. and found her in the company of the same man. She gave the other man's name as Charles Woodburn, a corporal in the American forces, and witness had served notice of the divorce proceedings on the man. Petitioner said he was a seaman by occupation. A decree nisi was granted. Failure to Comply On the ground of failure by respondent to comply with an order for restitution of conjugal rights, decrees nisi were granted AValter Ernest Brian Dunningham (Mr. Jordan) v. Viola Maureen Dunningham; Lawrence George Stockley (Mr. Sullivan) v. Winnifred Mary Joan Stockley; James Morrison (Mr. Sullivan) v. Doris Verdun Morrison.
