DRUMMOND CUP

SOCCER MATCH ON MONDAY JUNIOR GAMES POSTPONED Curtain-raiser to the representative Soccer match between Auckland and the Navy on Monday at Blandford Park will be a game between an Auckland fourth grade team and a combined secondary schools' team. This was reported by the junior management committee at a "meeting of the Auckland Football Association's control board last night. At half-time in the main match, a seven-a-side game will be played between two teams of ninth grade players. The chairman, Mr. D. A. Williams, spoke of the good games which had ensued between Auckland and the Navy in the past, adding that he was sure Monday's game, which is the first of three to decide possession of the Drummond Cup, would be no exception. All games trom fourth to ninth grade have been postponed tor this Saturday, as the Outer Domain is required for military purposes, preparatory to the public investiture by the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, on Monday. The fixtures committee advised that several higher grade teams would have to travel to outside grounds. Relerence was made to the unsatisfactory state of the dressing accommodation at the Outer Domain, it being stated that 50 teams changed there during the day. The delegate of the Referees' Association stated that thieving was prevalent ar this ground, valuables having been taken on several occasions. The matter was left in the hands of the secretary to make representations to the appropriate authority. Fixtures lor Saturday.—Senior grade: MetroCollege v.
