Mac Arthur's Bombers Range Over Wide Area NIGHT ATTACK OX JAP CONVOY Rec. 2.30 p.m. SYDNEY, this day. In their intensified attacks on Japanese airfields in the north-west of Dutch New Guinea General MacArthur's bombers raided two aerodromes on Biak Island, Geelvink Bay, with 150 tons of explosives. Fuel fires, with accompanying explosions, covered the target area. Manokwari, the main Japanese base on the south coast of Dutch New Guinea, was also raided. An enemy convoy north of Buru Island was attacked at night. The air assault on isolated Japanese bases on the Wewak-Hansa Bay coast has also been stepped up. Widespread damage is claimed in the latest strikes. Rabaul, New Britain, continues to be a daily target for General MacArthur's bombers. More than 100 tons of explosives were dropped in the latest raids. Planes from airfields in the Admiralty Islands are now raiding Truk Atoll, in the Carolines.
