FUNDS FOR MEMORIAL
OTAHUHU QUEEN CARNIVAL
At a well attended meeting last evening it was decided unanimously to open a campaign to raise funds for the Otahuhu and District Returned Services' Association memorial. A queen carnival was decided upon, and the competition will be run in four groups—Returned Services (Mr. C. Ewen, convener), Business and Commercial (Miss K. Bailey/ convener), Schools (Mr. A. Murdoch, convener), Citizens (Mr. F. W. Grey, convener pro tem). Two queens were appointed by the committee, Miss Mary Ewen to represent the Returned Services, and Miss Kathleen Bailey the Business and Commercial group. Queens for the Schools and Citizens' groups are to be selected by the respective committees. The contest will be officially opened at Sturges Park on March 27, when a monster carnival will be staged. A band of the United States Army will supply a musical programme, and the Otahuhu Athletic Club and Otahuhu vVhippet Club will stage programmes. National dancing contests will also be held.
