MEAT RATIONING
With respect to the rationing of meat in this country, nothing has as yet been said about the policy to be adopted in respect to the thousands of American servicemen. All Americans are brought to New Zealand for certain periods of time for hospitalisation, rest, and recreation from the various island bases. Many of them (i.e., Air Corps men) are not even living in camps during their stay here. Surely these men can and will not be expected to return to their camp, after many miles away, in the afternoon and thus disrupt their leave passes. Might I suggest that the ordinary leave pass be valid legitimation to obtain meals in restaurants without ration coupons? STEAK-HUNGRY YANK.
