PLEA FOR DOCTORS
MR. MOODY'S CRITICISM "I am both surprised and disgusted that young doctors returning after performing war service are not welcomed back with open arms and assisted by the rehabilitation authorities," said Mr. Allan J. Moody, chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, at last night's meeting.
Mr. Moody said these doctors had lost the advantage of much necessary hospital training while on active service, and he thought that on account of their experience the board could employ them at the salary of second or third-year staff men, and that these amounts be augmented by the rehabilitation authorities. The present regulations did not permit such additional assistance. They should be amended.
Mrs. M. M. Dreaver said the question was a local matter concerning the Hospital Board and the British Medical Association, and not one for the Government, which had provided a good future for the doctors through the Social Security Scheme.
