GENERAL'S FORTITUDE

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wed. Mrs. Kippenberger, wife of MaiorGeneral H. K. Kippenberger, D.S.O. ana bar, has received a cablegram from Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C., saying that General Kippenberger when wounded was given almost immediate medical treatment including a blood trans' fusion. The wounded general was very brave and cheerful and his fortitude was an example to all General Kippenberger, continued the cablegram, had bad luck to be wounded when leading the division distinction. The sympathy of all ranks was with the general.
