BRITISH WARTIME DIET
LOST TASTE FOR LEMONS Rec. 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Mar. 8. Because the wartime diet had robbed many people of their taste for lemons, the first consignment of fruit to arrive in Sussex since the war began was almost unsaleable. Children of Brighton described lemons as "nasty, bitter oranges." Many of the children had never seen lemons before.
The authorities said to-day that the release of 300,000,000 sweet Spanish and Jaffa oranges would provide lib of fruit for every man, woman and child in Britain.
