AT PRESENT IN CITY

MEMORIAL PRIZE WINNER (0.C.) WANGANUI, this day. The winner of the Jessie Mackay Memorial Prize for Poetry, announced yesterday, Mrs. G. J. Gullery, is about 25 years of age and is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Greig, of Purnell Street, Wanganui. She has written poetry since an early age and has won several prizes for her work in the larger centres. Mrs. Gullery was educated at St. Mary's Convent, Grey Street, and the Sacred Heart Convent, St. John's Hill, Wanganui, before taking up a position with the Railways Department. Subsequently she moved to the Wanganui branch of Dalgety and Co., Ltd. She was married only a few weeks ago, and is at present in Auckland, where her husband is serving in the R.N.Z.A.F.

As Mary Greig, Mrs. Gullery was a well-known contributor to the children's page of the Auckland Star, and later the adult section.
