APPLICATION DECLINED
ICON-UNION WATERSIDERS
An application by 150 non-unionist waterside workers for permission to use the facilities and hot water service installed in the rooms provided for the waterside workers in the Port Building was discussed at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board yesterday afternoon. A report of the board-in-committee stated that the recommendation of the superintendent, Mr. D. Holderness, to take no action in the meantime had been adopted.
Dissent was expressed by Mr. T. A. Bishop and Mr. H. Turner on the ground that no distinction should be made between unionists and nonunionists.
The chairman, Mr. J. H. Frater, pointed out that the union was a full one and the facilities provided were used to the maximum extent. The report of the board-in-commit-tee was adopted.
