DROWNING FATALITY
HOKITIKA, this day.
John Newbegin, a settler of Koiterangi-, aged 78 years, was drowned in the Hokitika River yesterday afternoon. While crossing on horse back at Koiterangi the horse stumbled and threw deceased, who soon disappeared. He leaves a wife (in Timaru) and one son. The body has not yet been recovered. The search is continuing.
