FREE ORANGES
GIFT TO HOSPITALS GENEROUS VICTORIAN OFFER (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. New Zealand hospitals will benefit by the generosity of Captain Duncan B. Halhed, of Merbein, Victoria, chairman of the Victorian Central Citrus Growers' Association. During the visit of the 'actingDirector of the Internal Marketing Division, Mr. R. P. Fraser, to the citrus-growing areas of the Murray River in South Australia and Victoria, Mr. Halhed offered 500 cases of oranges from his grove for free distribution to hospitals in New Zealand. Two of the main co-opera-tive packing sheds agreed to pack the fruit free, and the Victorian State railways and cartage agents to provide free transport within the Commonwealth, and the transtasman freight is also free for gift oranges which may be imported to New Zealand by the Internal Marketing Department. Allocation to the hospitals will be made through the Hospital Boards' Association, railway transport being free.
