DOLLS' READY SALE
SCENE AT AUCTION ROOM Complete with its ten residents a house changed hands at a sale yesterday, but it was a sale in which neither the Land Sales Committee nor any humanitarian saciety had an interest. This was a dolls' house carpeted from wall to wall, and the announcement of the sale had drawn many parents and children to a city auction room. Bidding was keen, both for the house and the ten dolls. The house was sold for £7 15/, but even with this gone children still had plenty to interest them. As the dolls were held up excited murmurs ran round the room, from the youngsters present. Few dolls are for sale these days, and the prices were naturally much higher than those of a few years ago, particularly with the approach of Christmas. All types of dolls were represented. Wide-awake dolls, sleeping dolls, French dolls, soldier dolls and animal dolls, if that is possible There was even a chance for the purchase of baby clothes, so good was the wardrobe of one of the largest dolls produced. The average price was a little under £5, though a couple changed hands at a price above that figure. l
