DAIRYING FALL
HERD TESTING FIGURES TWO YEAKS , COMPARISON Striking evidence of the decline in dairying over the last two years is given in the November returns of the Auckland Herd Improvement Association. Last month 1443 herds, comprising 75.323 cows were under test by the association, compared with 2083 herds of 111,072 cows in the corresponding month of 1941. The position, however, shows an improvement when compared with the figures for November last year. These show that then 1410 herds of 76,639 cows were tested. The average pounds of milk for the last three Novembers is:—800,801,785; pounds of fat, 37.3, 37.5, 36.4; test, 4.66, The highest average obtained last month was in the Matakana group, where 25 cows produced an average of 501b • of fat.
