GOOD AUCKLAND CUP TRIAL Deepening the good impression she created last week, the diminutive .Merry May again took the honours at Takanini this morning. Associated with Foxola over nine furlongs, the Tidal tilly was conceding a btart to her companion with three furlongs to go, but responded m line style to DC on terms at the end. she ran the last mile in 1.-12 2-h. The middle grass was used for galloping, the going being in excellent order, and other Auckland candidates to please included Lord Chancellor, Sweet Biscuit, Beau Vaals, Coronaire, Argovie and iours and Mine. , , Lord Chancellor, assisted over the last seven furlongs by Balfron, was also sent nine furlongs, being timed to run his last mile in 1.43. He did his work attractively and had the measure of Balfron at tue end after running the first three in obs and the first hall-mile in uOs. Cornish and Jeff were together thioughout six mrlongs in 1.14 U-5, which was the best time recorded over this distance, although the improver, Kittyora, completed a similar task alone in 1.14 4-5, a nice effort for one of her class. Sleeuy fox was under restraint in the early stages of his gallop and ran 1.10, the pace being on over the last half mile, again wont tMS dashing over live furlongs in 1.1 :>-o. Both horses worked well, particularly Sweet biscuit, which could have improved. Cambria broke away from Route March, winch I clocked 1.2, the first-named joining in over the last three lurlongs. Royal .Merit and Kentish ran five furlongs in 1.2 vo — a satisfactory effort. Coronaire and Plassida jumped ofl at the half-mile post, Coronaire receiving the worst of the start, but he quickly made up the leeway and was two lengths to the good at the end in 49 2-js, time which was equalled by rieiad, which defeated Caliinan by a length. Argovie and Yours and Mine were associated over lour in 50s, both doing it nicely at the end. Other gallops were:—Three furlongs: Artificer 375. Four furlongs: Great Flea, Plca=ure and Ballroom, 50s; Gay Chat and Sousa, 30 l-ss. Five furlongs: Water Vixen 1.4; Koval Advice ana Master Mischief, 1.5 3-5. Seven furlongs: Sir Ringman, 1.31.
