TRAIN BROKE IN TWO
BLUE MOUNTAINS CRASH NARROW ESCAPES (0.C.) '. SYDNEY, .Nov.-' 26. Unknown to the driver,- a goods train broke in two coming, down'the Blue Mountains. As the front section was pulled up, the runaway rear trucks crashed into it. A large petrol wagon capsized, a truck was. derailed, scattering : 40 bales of wool about the line, and other trucks were smashed. Aftej" l the", trucks' parted company, the front section continued about a quarter of a' mile before the driver, applying the' brakes to take a turn, found "that he was not carrying the usual load. He' had hardly stopped the train when he heard the trucks behind rattling towards him. Two - soldiers had narrow escapes when' the smash occurred. One was asleep a"t the wheel' of a military truck in'a rail wagon. Though the truck-was" telescoped, he escaped with laceration's to the face.'The other was sitting "in : a-military truclc. He was badly shaken, but escaped serious injury. - . .. - -
