Members of the Auckland Cit; Council this week were sen thins it their reference to the "Victory' jarden in Albert Park. Miss E. Me! v'ille raised the subject with ji ques :ion as to the permanence of the garden. She thought it was a dis srace; she could do better herself \ similar opinion was expressed b;\ the chairman of the parks comnittee. Mr. L. J. Coakley, whr •eferred to "a few straggling onior ilants." It was simply futile, he ;aid. No one went near it. lie was fo.inj? to look into the question ol ts continuance. Speaking on the reneral question of restoring Albert D ark, and removing the slit renches. which he considered "an jyesore," the Mayor, Mr. Allum. said he onlj' limiting factor was labour.
