PRODUCE STORES
AWARD FOR EMPLOYEES An award has been made by the Arbitration Court for the New Zealand (except Westland) fruit and produce stores employees. Agreed to in Conciliation Council the terms had formerly been referred back by the Court when asked to make an award accordingly, and some modifications were made which have now been accepted by the Court. Bringing the award into line with the Storemen and Packers' award, it provides an increase of 2/6 a week for head storemen, of 1/6 a week for youths and females, and of a penny an hour (making 2/7) for casuals. The annual holiday, formerly one week, has been made seven working days on full pay. The term of the award is one year from October 11 last.
