RELIEF PLANS
HELP FOR OCCUPIED EUROPE Rec. 1 p.m. RUGBY, Nov. 12. Mr. ' Herbert Lehman, DirectorGeneral of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, to-day promised the starving people of occupied Europe and the Far East a diet of 2000 calories daily as soon as the Allied armies have liberated them. He said a large part of this food supply would come from their own domestic production and the United States and other Allied Nations would not have to supply them as soon as their domestic production reached its fullest effectiveness, as was now done in North Africa. He added that the United Nations relief organisation would have its headquarters in -Washington with regional offices in London and the Far East, and he also described the task of repatriating 20,000,000 European refugees as "one of the most important difficulties" facing the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration.
