DAY AND NIGHT RAIDS
I EUROPE -HEAVILY POUNDED Rec. 12.30 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 12. Mosquitoes bombed objectives in Berlin, Hanover and in the Ruhr. Enemy waters were mined. Fighter Command intruders attacked airfields and railways in France and the Low Countries. Seven bombers and one fighter are missing. Allied bombers dealt out an incessant day and night pounding against Europe throughout Thursday. Shortly after dusk a large force of R.A.F. bombers crossed the Channel. The force could be heard passing over one district for an h °Flying Fortresses! under an escort of Thunderbolts and Lightnings,"attacked targets at Munster. Preliminary reports indicated that ten enemy planes were destroyed by Fortresses and eight by fighters. Allied bombers and fighteis operating in great strength attacked Cherbourg, destroying four enemy planes. - A force of several hundied Spitfires from the Fighter Command for the second successive day supported American Marauder bombers attacking the Cherbourg peninsula. Later, Typhoons attacked the same target from a low level. Other fighters swept nearby enemy air bases and destroyed two Focke Wulf 190's.
