RECRUITING DRIVE
WOMEN'S LAND SERVICE TASK OP MRS. M. DREAVER (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. Referring to the statement that Mrs. Mary Dreaver had been appointed liaison officer between the Government and the National Service Department to facilitate a solution of the present farm labour problems, and to further the organisation of the Women's land services, the' Minister of Manpower, Mr. McLagan, states that this statement is absolutely contrary to fact. He said that Mrs. Dreaver, who along with Mrs. W. J. Poison, played a valuable part in the previous recruiting campaign for the women's land service, recently volunteered her services in her own time and with no thought of payment to assist the Government with its present second recruiting drive for the women's land service. The offer was gratefully accepted, and Mrs. Dreaver was at present carrying out an itinerary which she had arranged with the Director of National Service for the sole purpose of encouraging girls to enlist in the women's land service. She had not been appointed to a post as liaison officer with the Department, she was not concerning herself with the organisation of the women's land service, nor was she being paid any salary for the arduous work she so Avillingly offered to do to assist the country's war effort, said the Minister.
