FEES WRITTEN OFF
The Auckland Hospital Board decided at a meeting last evening to write off fees totalling £12,569 and to reduce fees totalling £12,218. The finance committee reported that the. amounts consisted mainly of fees incurred prior to the operation of social security benefits, and had been found to be irrecoverable. Since the introduction of social security payments in July, 1939, a total of about £70,000 had been collected in outstanding accounts, and it was estimated that approximately a further £1500 would be received from that source.
