DAVID VERSUS GOLIATH
Democratic Soldier Labour must marshal small truths to defeat microphone ialsehoods. Labour speakers on the air never tire of screaming that there is a Democratic Labour-Nationalist understanding. They do, of course, to conceal the real understanding which has existed between the Nationalists and the Labour Party in the last few years. For instance: fraser Labour voted with Holland Nationalist to impose war sales tax and thus reduced purchasing power of Workers' Wages and Beneficiaries' Pensions 20 per cent.
Fraser Labour voted with Holland Nationalists to cut workers' wages and earnings oi' Old Age Pensioners and Juveniles by imposition of 71 per cent wage tax.
Fraser Labour, on the eve of Dunkirk, said that there would be no conscription in New Zealand, and within a few weeks voted for conscription. Fraser Labour and the Holland Nationalists imposed War Risk Insurance Taxation Racket.
Fraser Labour supported the National Labour Coalition and invited Wage and Pension-cutters — Hamilton. Bodkin, Broadfoot rmd Poison — into Cabinet.
Fraser Labour at one time opposed Cabinet Ministers in the Upper House and now supports three Ministers who have never been elected in the Upper House. Fraser Labour voted with Holland Nationalists to prolong Parliament for the Duration of the War and Twelve Months After. Fraser Labour united with Holland Nationalists to over-commit New Zealand manpower. Eraser Labour was pledged to improvement of wages and conditions in industrial and other employment, but stabilised wages of workers and Civil Servants at as low a level as £4 9/ per week with Nationalist blessing. Believe it or not, after this record of collusion, co-operation and even coalition, Labour speakers scream that Democratic Soldier Labour, which opposed all of the above, has an understanding with the Nationalists for the sake of hiding their own tracks. Nevertheless, with only one broadcast, and in the teeth of hostility, Democratic Soldier Labour goes on its winning way. On the road gaily. Without a crust of bread, Yet gaily marched The regiment. —(Ad.)
