AUCKLAND DEFEATED

FINE DISPLAY BY VISITORS

Clever stickwork, admirable ball control and positional play were the factors which contributed to Wellington's victory over the Auckland representatives at Melville Park last Saturday. The visitors forward line moved smartly and their two wingers, 'J. Riley and I. Lamason, were the fastest seen in Auckland for some time. Their half line worked well, with neat interceptions and smart passing to their forwards. Their back line, too, was strong. S. Clark-Smith, though diminutive was powerful on defence and broke up many promising forays. M.
