VALUE OF S.S. ONEWA
PETITION TO PARLIAMENT
(By Telegraph-—-Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. A petition of Douglas Eric Bradney, mariner, of Auckland, on behalf of J. H. Bradney and Sons, Limited, requesting the payment of a further £2500 in respect to the sale of the steamship Onewa to the naval authorities, has been referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. The owners had so far received £2500. Petitioner asked that as an alternative to the payment of the sum mentioned, a stipendiary magistrate should be appointed to Inquire and report as to the value of the ship at the date of its sale in terms of the Shipping Requisitioning Emergency Regulations, 1939. It was stated in the petition that the Onewa had been previously used in the Waiheke Island trade.
