Envoys Denied Meeting With Giraud And De Gaulle
OFFICIAL. INTERFERENCE Rec. noon. LONDON, Aug. 20. British and American officials in North Africa prevented Russian envovs meeting either General de Gaulle or General Giraud, according to the Moscow journal, War and the Working Class. The paper said the Soviet for two months attempted to send representatives to establish personal contact with Generals Giraud and de Gaulle to obtain information, but the Russian desire was thwarted by British and American objections on the grounds of "military expediency."
