WELCOME TO TROOPS
The cost of the recent parade and civic reception in Auckland of men on furlough from the Middle East was approximately £520. Commenting on a reDort to the City Council last night, "the Mayor, Mr. Allum, said the Prime Minister had offered a contribution from the Government of £1 for each of the returned men and women. He had thanked Mr. Fraser, but declined the offer, as the city preferred to meet the full costs of welcoming home its own troops.
