GOVERNMENT HOUSE CLUB
The present daily average of meals served at the Government House Club for members of the fighting forces is 400, according to a report presented to the City Council last night. Commenting on the club, Mr. C. J. Lovegrove said the whole of the financing for the alterations to the building and for carrying on the regular operations had been carried out without cost to the Patriotic Committee, thanks to subscriptions from citizens and contributions in work and material by trading firms. In addition, the work of managing the club had been carried out by a "wonderful band of voluntary workers," and there had not been a single incident of misconduct by any of the members of the Services patronising the club.
