"CHAIRMAN'S DAY"
A NOVEL LEAGUE DECISION At its weekly meeting last night the Auckland Rugby League resolved to institute a "chairman's day" for which the chairman would nominate the matches to be played. It was considered that this would create special interest. 'lhe innovation will take place on a day suitable to the board. In connection with the ordering off of J. Murray (Manukau) last week, a severe caution is to be issued. The chairman, Mr. J. W. Watson, reported that the principal match on Saturday, between Manukau *nd City, two of the leading teams. was expected to produce the beet football of the season, Saturday's fixtures are:— Ponsonby v. Richmond. Carlaw Park No. 1, 1.30 p.m., H. Tate: City v. Manukau. Carlaw Park No. 1, 3 pjn., H. J. Donovan; Mount Albert v. Newton, Carlaw Park No. 2, 1.30 p.m., J. Hawkes; Marlst v. Otahuhu, Carlaw l'ark No. 2. 3 p.m., G. Kelly.
